Lange & Söhne is both inspiring and rich. Founded by Adolph Lange in 1845, this company has kept its roots in Glashütte. The story behind A. Lange & Söhne began in Dresden the nearby capital of the state of Saxony. A local watchmaker named Gutkaes was asked by a member of the local Royalty to create a unique clock for the local Semper Opera. The result was the famous five minute digital clock. Adolphe Lange created a partnership with Gutkaes. After creating horological masterpieces for various European nobles, the partners moved to the small town of Glashütte from Dresden and A. Lange & Söhne was born. A. Lange & Söhne has pioneered several major innovations that helped propel A. Lange & Söhne to the top of the fine watchmaking world.
